Short Stories

Being a writer has its perks, especially the sense of pride (and a bit of nerves!) that swell inside when I see someone reading a story of mine. Below are a few of my most recently published short stories for you to browse. Please feel free to get in touch and share your comments or questions.  I’d be more than happy to hear from you and am always looking for writing pals and beta readers.

This short story was in response to the 2019 NYC Midnight Short Story Challenge. I was given the challenge to write a 2,500 word story in the Romance genre, with a blank check central to the plot, and a Sea Captain as a character. So, I came up with mermaid pirates?!

Synopsis: When a ship full of mermaid pirates gets blown off course their Captain must come to a life-changing decision.

This is a fun little Southern-style 'caper' that I had a blast writing. I’m so excited to finally share 'What's the Worst that Could Happen?" with a wider audience and hope you enjoy it.

The best stories are like a haiku, capturing a single moment, movement, or experience in its entirety, painstakingly intricate yet seemingly simple when completed.

Emma has bills to pay, as her mother often reminds her. So, a real-life possibly-paying apprenticeship is a life-saver. So Emma's new boss seems a bit...quirky. But that's okay, Emma can deal with quirky, right?
